Asr Gebed in Alexandria — Veelgestelde vragen

Antwoorden dagelijks ververst op basis van de actuele Asr tijd, zonsopgang, zonsondergang en Hijri-datum in Alexandria.

What time is Asr today in Alexandria?
Asr in Alexandria, Egypt begins today (Friday, October 23, 2026) at 15:55 local time (Africa/Cairo) and continues until Maghrib at 18:20.
What is the difference between Hanafi Asr and Shafi'i Asr time?
The Shafi'i (and majority) school sets Asr when the shadow of an object equals the object's own length plus the noon shadow. The Hanafi school sets Asr when the shadow equals twice the object's length plus the noon shadow — typically 30–60 minutes later. The figure shown (15:55) follows the calculation method configured for this page.
When does the Asr window end?
Asr ends at sunset (Maghrib). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "Whoever catches one rakat of Asr before sunset has caught Asr" (Bukhari). In Alexandria today, that gives a window from 15:55 to 18:20.
Why is Asr particularly emphasized in the Qur'an?
Surah Al-Baqarah 2:238 says: "Guard strictly your prayers, especially the middle prayer." Many scholars identify this verse as referring to Asr, which falls in the middle of the working day when distractions are highest and missing the prayer is easiest.
How does today's Asr time in Alexandria compare to the same date last year?
On this same date one year ago, Asr in Alexandria was at 15:55 local time — identical to today's 15:55. Year-over-year drift is sometimes zero when the leap-year alignment cancels out the typical solar shift.
What is special about Friday Asr in Alexandria?
Today is Friday. Many scholars hold that the final hour of Friday — the hour before Maghrib at 18:20 in Alexandria — contains a moment in which dua (supplication) is particularly accepted, as taught in a well-known hadith. Praying Asr at 15:55 and remaining in dhikr until sunset is a recommended Friday practice.
How many rakat is Asr prayer?
Asr prayer consists of 4 Sunnah, 4 Fard (8 rakat in total). This breakdown follows the standard Sunni convention as taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
What direction is the Qibla from Alexandria for Asr?
From Alexandria, the Qibla bearing toward the Kaaba in Mecca is approximately 135° measured clockwise from true north. The same direction applies to every prayer of the day — only the time of Asr changes daily.
What is the spiritual significance of Asr?
Guard strictly your prayers, especially the Middle Prayer (Asr). (Quran 2:238)
Can I delay Asr to combine with Maghrib?
No. Asr and Maghrib are not among the prayers classical jurisprudence allows to be combined. Dhuhr/Asr and Maghrib/Isha can be combined under specific conditions, but Asr must always be completed before sunset.
